Half the Man I Used to Be
Coach Roy Shipley from Soddy-Daisy middle school is half the man he used to be. “I remember when I was in great shape at 6
ft. 5 in. 300 lbs. playing college football. After my final college football game I joined the military.
I continued to stay in great shape until I left the military. From that day on I never saw 300 lbs. again.
“Having a busy life, I found it difficult to make time for myself. The more I allowed myself to get busy the more
my weight pushed up. I finally I reached 450 pounds and my life was out of control. I knew I was in trouble
when I needed help tying my shoes or just breath- ing. My health was heading in the wrong direction
quickly and I needed immediate help.
“I was desperate and had to find a way to get this weight off fast, but surgery was not on my
list. I found Inshape MD, a medical weight loss program in Chattanooga. I made the call and
scheduled a free consult with the owner Jack Silberman.
“After the consult I knew there was hope for me. I was so impressed with the medical staff
at Inshape MD. Everyone there made me feel so comfortable and confident that I could do this. They helped me believe in myself and accomplish my goals. We scheduled my blood
work and doctor appointment and off we went.
“Four weeks later I was already down 45 lbs. and I was beginning to catch my breath. Today, I am 1⁄2
the man I was when I left the military. I have now lost 157 lbs. and I’m under my college weight. This is the
best I have felt in 20 yrs. Now that I look back, my big- gest regret is why I didn’t start sooner. Thank you InshapeMDfor saving my life!”
Remember! You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.
